Wages for the indolent.

My current job isn't proving to be much of a challenge (not that I expected it to be). In fact, there were hardly any customers last night. The upshot is a minor cheque for reading Gore Vidal's United States and occasionally scoffing a black olive. It's a magnificent book, and comes with my highest recommendation (check it out on the inside cover). United States is a collection of over a hundred Vidal essays, too multifarious to summarise by a single word. As public intellectuals go, the man is in the supreme league, but each essay is very readable and frequently amusing. Anyone interested in the US should flick through it.

That's my summer employment summed up. Oh, I also partook of tea, chit-chat and chocolate.

  • Three points for using the word 'multifarious'. Hope you're doing well :)

  • It's a fun word. I try to slip it in every couple of months. :P

Yes, things are going great here - just killing time before the great upheaval. Likewise, hope life is good in Philly.
